Marseille, 1949: Irving Brown, Jewish American unionist, is sent by the CIA to break the communists. To achieve his ends, Irving partners with the local mafia and recruits former collaborators, before discovering that one of them denounced his own family during the Occupation. To save France from red, he makes a pact with his executioners – how far can one betray one's dead to defeat new demons?
